Counselor-in-Training and Junior Counselor Programs
The Hitchcock Center Nature Summer Camp has great opportunities for teens in 2022! Our “Counselor-in-Training (CIT)” program, is for teens entering 7-9th grade, who love nature and working with children. Our “Junior Counselor (JC)” program for 10-12th graders ready for more of a leadership role. Applicants for both programs should earnestly wish to build their leadership skills and contribute to a fun, safe camp environment by being mature and appropriate role models for the kids.
They should always be looking for ways to help the staff and the campers, and be excited and energetic for a jam-packed day. CITs and JCs attend camp for one or more sessions assisting counselors with all the activities of Nature Camp, such as leading hikes, activities, games, and songs. Reporting to the Co-Camp Directors, and working alongside the counselors, JCs have fun learning in the outdoors while gaining leadership experience at the same time. CITs and JCs must attend a mandatory training session on Thursday, June 23 from 2-4pm and be at camp from 8:15am to 3:30pm each day (3:45pm on Tuesdays for staff meetings). We encourage current 12-14 year-olds to register for one of our Leadership Training camp sessions either July 5–15 or July 25–August 5 to prepare you to be a CIT. See below for more information about this special camp session.
We will be accepting applications and interviewing on a rolling basis.
