Destination Tar Sands

Wednesday, March 9, 2016—7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

FREE

with DeAnne and Chris Riddle
Wednesday, March 9, 7pm
DeAnne and Chris Riddle have been concerned about Tar Sands petroleum for several years, but focused on it when the Keystone Pipeline was proposed and when its proposed route crossed farmland which DeAnne owns in Nebraska. “Tar Sands’ refers to vast sand and bitumen deposits in northern Alberta, Canada. The Keystone Pipeline would carry treated bitumen from these deposits to refineries on the Gulf of Mexico. Extracting this bitumen does profound environmental damage. To see it for themselves, the Riddles traveled to Fort McMurray, Alberta, in July of 2015. They will share what they learned, with photographs and a video of an aerial tour. Free, registration and donations appreciated
