Red, Black and Scarlet – Identifying The Oaks

Sunday, November 13, 2016—9:00 am - 12:00 pm

$20 – $25

Ted Watt, Nancy Goodman, Kim Noyes & Patti Steinman, Collaborative Naturalists
Thursday, November 10, 7- 8:30 pm (at the Hitchcock Center)
Sunday, November 13, 9:00 am – noon (field trip)

Join the Hitchcock Center, Northfield Mountain and Arcadia for a collaborative unraveling of the mysteries of oak identification. After a review of the many oak species found in the Valley, we’ll take a closer look at buds and acorns. We’ll share specific identification tips and strategies and work together to gain skills and confidence in identifying this challenging group.  Bring your enthusiasm along with a hand lens, if you have one, and join us for a fun evening! If time allows we’ll also try our hand at Hickory ID. The evening will be followed by a local field trip on Sunday, November 13 from 9:00 a.m. to noon to practice our newly acquired skills in the field. Members $20/Non-members $25
