Counselor-in-Training and Junior Counselor Programs
Are you a young person who loves working with kids, being outside, and being part of a team? Our CIT (8th to 9th grade) and JC (10th to 12th grade) programs are about building the skills to support your peers, connect more deeply to nature, and build leadership skills that will stick with you as a counselor and as a global citizen. We are looking for youth who are interested in growing and challenging themselves as listeners, educators, and role models.
CITs and JCs should always be looking for ways to help the staff and the campers; be open to feedback and redirection as they learn to take on more responsibility within the camp group; and be enthusiastic and energetic about a jam-packed day. CITs and JCs attend Nature Summer Camp for one or more sessions assisting counselors with all the activities of camp, such as preparation and leading of hikes, activities, games, and songs. Reporting to the Co-Camp Directors, and working alongside the counselors, CITs and JCs have fun learning in the outdoors while gaining leadership experience at the same time.
CITs and JCs must attend a mandatory training session on Thursday, June 20 from 2-4pm and be at camp from 8:15am to 3:30pm each day (3:45pm on Tuesdays for CIT/JC meetings with the Co-Director).We encourage current rising 8th & 9th graders to register for our summer 2024 Leadership Training Camp session to prepare them to be a CIT. See below for more information about this special camp session.
We will be accepting applications until April 5, 2024
The interview process will begin in late March, early April
