When you get to that page, type Hitchcock into the name of the library. No password is necessary. Once you have entered the library name you will be taken to a page where you can easily search our library. We’re not able to allow books to be reserved online at this time, but please call us at 413-256-6006 and we would be happy to put books aside for you. We do ask that you be a member of the Hitchcock Center to borrow books from our library.
Please stop in and explore our collection. It is named for Peg McDaniel who started the collection 52 years ago. At that time the books were kept in the back of her car!
- For children: The children’s books are especially impressive. We have many beautiful picture books all about nature and many non-fiction children’s books.
- For adults: Our adult collection includes ecology, nature writing, and natural history. We have a good set of field guides in the reference section as well as ones that you can borrow.
- For teachers: The most unique part of the library is the Curriculum Materials. It is probably the most extensive collection of books that support hands-on science and environmental education in Western Massachusetts.
We hope to see you in the library soon!
